Details

We would like to invite young people aged 14-18 to this workshop for a consultation on Democracy Matters. This is an opportunity for young people to exchange their thoughts and views about who should obtain political powers within the community, what type of bodies can represent these powers, and how financial budgets are decided on. We want to hear their views on who and how community members could be chosen and elected and which structures would have to be in place to hold community bodies/individuals accountable while ensuring sufficient community support.

As participants will all come with experiences and views, this workshop will further benefit from interpersonal exchanges. This will establish helpful input creating ideas on which models/structures to perhaps adapt or not. Suggestions for the Scottish context will no doubt benefit from this type of insight and widen the horizon of possibilities and dangers when trying to define how democratic decision making processes could be improved and brought forward in Scotland to create healthy, engaging, and supportive communities. All findings will be gathered and reported back to the Scottish government.

The event is free to attend and catering will be provided. Those interested in attending should complete the RSVP form below before 12:00pm on the day of the event.
